Welcome to my Website

All of my landscape paintings begin outdoors whether done in one session or from studies that are later used in the studio. I'm interested in representing what I see and feel about a place, on location first hand. The places I paint have an historical connection to my growing up in rural Montana. While the landscapes are a recognizable place my predilection for texture and mark making help me focus on the painting process. I do not want to be nostalgic; the changeable weather and seasons keep it alive in the moment. It's my personal understanding of what I see and how I interpret that in the painting.
